Hazel spent her weekend camping and hiking at Mt. Rainier, where the weather was decidedly UN-August-like. It was so wintry in fact, that Mom and Dad were forced to break out the fleece suit to keep Hazel warm. She slept in her long underwear, fleece footy pajamas, fleece bunting AND her sleeping bag in the tent on Saturday night. Hazel wants to know, where did summer go??
All was not lost on Hazel's trip to Mt. Rainier. On Sunday, the clouds cleared, Mt. Rainier showed itself and Dad said, "Let's go RIGHT NOW!" So, the Barkers hightailed it to Paradise and hiked as high as they could. Hazel's favorite word for the day? "Wow, wow, WOW!"
Hazel does not like wearing this much fleece in August any more than Mom and Dad do.
Learning how to start a campfire from Mom. This is a crucial skill that all girls must know.
Riding on Dad's back up a mountain is so supremely awesome.
Hazel tried hard not to fall off the mountain during lunch.
WAY too cool for this mountain. Next!
