Oh Christmas Tree

Well, the skiing was poor this weekend, so everyone stayed home and made the annual trek to the Christmas tree farm. Hazel was intrigued by the idea, though she did request that everyone "walk on the sidewalk" (the dirt road) instead of amongst the trees and preferred the tiny trees over the normal-sized ones. Eventually though, everyone came to an agreement and chose a perfectly sized douglas fir with plenty of branches for ornaments.

When the tractor arrived to take the tree back to the car, Hazel started crying because they were taking our tree away. It seemed very cruel to her- we had just picked it and then it is taken away so quickly?

Hazel helped Dad decorate the tree and Dad snapped this shot of some conspicuously placed ornaments. Guess who?

Hazel requested a dress and her dancing shoes and proceeded to start dancing around the tree to Christmas music.

Holiday Parade

Daddy had to work at the fire station Saturday because he organized the holiday parade, so Hazel decided she had to go check out Daddy's performance.

Hazel was overwhelmed by all candy tossed out by people on passing fire engines and parade floats. She also enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies.

Finally, Hazel visited with Santa at the fire station. She did not like Santa very much, but did tell him she wants a baby for Christmas.

Hazel's First Day Skiing

Hazel officially began her skiing career today at Mount Hood Meadows. Of course, she wore her Big Girl Skis when she was 1 (last season) but she could barely walk.
Today, Hazel awoke shouting "I want to ski!!!" and so we rushed her to Mount Hood where the snow was dry, the wind was calm and the crowds were thin.

Hazel was THRILLED to take 15 trips up the Magic Carpet at Mount Hood Meadows and yelled "go faster!" when we skied down. Daddy cried a little bit he was so happy.

Hazel kept saying "again" every time we got down, until the 15th lap on the Bunny Hill, when she said "I want a nap." So she proceeded to fall asleep in her sled on the way back to the car and then melt down at home and go to bed early. Yep, she's living the dream at 2 years old. Awesome.
