Family time

Here at the Kaiser cabin, Hazel gets to spend a lot of time with Grandad and Grandmom. A more loved grandchild you have never seen! Unfortunately, Mom and Dad still haven't convinced them to take over the nighttime feedings and diaper changes!

Hazel in Eastern Washington

Hazel is hanging out with mommy's family in Eastern Washington at the family cabin on the Columbia River. We're on an open ended-road trip.

Hazel was in a great sleeping routine until we came to the cabin. She's still learning to sleep on the road...

Hazel and Silas went to a bar called Yo Mama...

And then passed out on the couch together. Supervised, of course.

Hazel is 3 weeks old in this pic. Silas is 6 weeks.

Our little Tajik

Aunt Ailey spent the summer in Tajikistan and her host family made these awesome pants for Hazel. Ailey says they don't use diapers in Tajikistan so they're a little small in the bottom, but they work. Now all she needs is a head covering.

Hazel's First Summit

We took Hazel up to her first mountain summit today. The trail was an easy 5 mile round trip up from Highway 26 to Mirror Lake and then to the summit of Tom Dick and Harry Peak, which is just to the west of Skibowl. The summit offers a spectacular view of Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens and Mount Jefferson.
Hazel slept all of the way up and down, nestled against her mommy in her chest-pack. She even had a snack at the top and a diaper change. We're starting her early!

Hazel's Dress

This is Hazel's first dress, compliments of her grandmother. Hazel's mom and dad plan to dress her in lots of Prana and Patagonia too... but this is too funny.

Hazel C'est Magnifique!

Our friends Carolin and Holger, who live in Paris (but are actually German), sent Hazel this adorable new coat. It's a little big, but she'll grow into it. Dankeshane, merci, or something like that!

Hazel Hits the Road

The Barker family hit the road on Hazel's 9th day outside of the womb to teach our little girl how to hang outside the house. She taught us quite a bit too. We spent the night in White Salmon, dunked ourselves in the Columbia River at Hood River and hike the Eagle Creek trail in the Gorge. Hazel loved it!

Hazel's First Bath

Hazel would like to thank her fans

For her outfit that actually reminds us that she is a girl (thanks Grandmom and Grandad) and for her pillow that allows Mom and Dad to eat dinner together like real adults (thanks Uncle Nate and Aunt Marissa).

Next stop...the modeling agency.

Hazel's First Saturday

5 Days Old!

Hazel had her first post-hospital sponge bath Friday. She's a lot more awake and alert too! For the second night in a row, Hazel let her parents sleep for about 9 hours, if you piece together all of the 2 and 3 hour breaks between feedings. That's pretty good! She also enjoyed lots of loving from Marissa (below) and Nate.

4 Days Old and Sleepy!

Hazel spent her fourth night sleeping like a rock. Mom and Dad got nearly 9 hours of sleep, but there were plenty of interruptions for Hazel to eat and get a fresh diaper. We're both shocked at how much sleep we were able to piece together between 9pm and 10am, but I'm sure we'll have nights that don't go the same way.
Most of these pictures were taken Thursday. Uncle Nate can't seem to let go of Hazel when he's around!
And Noah? Noah is really curious about this smelly little baby who squeaks and wails every once in a while.

3 Days 5 Hours

Three Days Old!

We got about 5 hours of sleep last night and Hazel is keeping us very busy. She's eating a lot and when we lay her down to sleep she makes lots of cute noises. She also gets the hiccups regularly after eating. We also tried some tummy time (picture above) for a couple of minutes, after which Hazel promptly snacked again and took a nap.
