Spring Break

Hazel and Tygh started their spring break at Crested Butte and continued it in Moab. It's tough to be a Barker.

While Mom didn't get to ski due to injury, Dad said Hazel was skiing so well and so fast, he could barely keep up. Look for Hazel on the Peak next year.

The next day, the family headed to Moab, where we camped in a BLM campground next to the Colorado River. This guy sent his greetings from Canyon Country.

Camping mornings with kids are...laid back.

Fashionista Hazel has style, even while camping.

Hazel did her best hiking yet, out-sprinting Mom and Dad and looking for arches in every nook and cranny.

Mom and Hazel went on a girls-only hike to Sand Dune Arch, hands-down the best arch for kids due to the huge sand box at the base.

Hazel practiced her rock climbing skills pretty much everywhere.

After completing all of the requirements, Hazel became a bona fide Junior Ranger. So proud.

Mom trying to avoid getting hit with the hiking stick and Hazel raising her arms in triumph.

Campfires are a requirement.

The campground was bordered by the most scenic bike path ever.

Hiking to more arches on a colder day.

Lion King moment for Dad and Tygh.

Lunch on the side of the road. Serious stuff.

First sleepover

Hazel has been bugging Mom and Dad to pleeeeeeeease have a sleepover and Mom and Dad finally gave in.

Cameron came over for the night and the two girls spent their time dressing up as princesses, watching princess movies, eating macaroni and cheese and playing outside in the snow. No one got much sleep, least of all Mom and Dad, but it was a success. Now, Hazel is bugging Mom and Dad if she could pleeeeeeeeease have another sleepover again soon. PLEASE?

The next morning, Cameron went home and Hazel and Dad shredded the slopes of Crested Butte since there were no lessons this week. Dad said Hazel was going to so fast and turning so well, he was hard pressed to keep up with her. BAM! It's about time.

Everyone stayed in Crested Butte for the annual Big Air on Elk. Tygh chilled in the Ergo and Hazel made quick friends with all of the kids that were there to see the show. The show was pretty darn good.

On Sunday, Dad "had" to go skiing for work, so Mom and the kids took off for the park. Tygh could spend hours on the swing, if his sister would just let him.

As soon as Dad came home, he swept up the kids and took them to the swimming pool. We have no pictures of this. But we are sure it was awesome.

Happy happy 6 months!

We pretty much won the lottery (the second time, of course) with this guy.

You know, LIFE

Hazel, conducting her train with her "kids".

Tygh and his buddy, Russell. They hung out together with the babysitter all day while Dad was on a backcountry ski trip and Mom took Hazel to ski lessons.

Is this Sunday morning hair amazing or what?

This guy would hang out on the swing for HOURS if you would let him.

The weekend

After Friday's antics at the bonfire, it was time to ski. Hazel showed off her skills after class with Dad.

And then? Then Saturday STILL wasn't over because it was time for the WSCU basketball game with her "best friend", Cameron.

Cameron's sister, Audrey, and brother, Russell (who is 1 month younger than Tygh) came along too.

Sunday involved more skiing followed by an impromptu sledding/snow castle building session in the front yard.

And then, THIS. This guy? He's awesome.
