Community Cleanup

Saturday was Community Cleanup Day at Hazel and Tygh's school. You can see how enthused Hazel was about picking up trash.

Though once she got to pose in front of a camera with some friends, she acted like SHE had picked up all that trash, not Mom.

Art Show

For the past few weeks, Hazel's preschool class has been studying great artists and their work. They then created their own versions. Last week was the "Gallery Opening". It was impressive to see what these preschoolers were able to do and to hear them explain their work.

Hazel explains photography composition. And also why there is a princess in her picure.

Hazel took this picture because "There is a bike on the car and we ride bikes!" Damn right, Hazel.

Explaining her Georgia O'Keefe flower to Mom and Tygh. Tygh is a little over the predominance of pink.

They even did pottery! (Who ARE these amazing preschool teachers??)

Picasso faces.

Matisse flowers.

If you can't paint a princess, you are so not an artist.

The kids studied Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel. The teacher then taped paper under the table and the kids did their own Sistine Chapel while laying down, just like Michelangelo. Until the art show, I was unaware that there are rainbows on the Sistine Chapel.

This is a Matisse princess, of course.

Desert camping (sort of)

To experience the magic that is Fruita, the family headed to the desert for a night.

This guy practiced his "Desert Rat" role.

The kids hung out while Mom went on a mountain bike ride.

Babies make superb hood ornaments.

Hazel thinks that desert attire means a nightgown.

Hazel aptly celebrates Daddy's bike race with a snow shovel.

Tygh did what babies do best: Napped.

"That's a ferocious wind storm out there," says Hazel. "Is Daddy done racing yet?"

Yep. Still racing.

Desert children don't need no stinking shoes.

Easter weekend in Ouray

We started off our Easter weekend in Gunnison with the underwater Easter egg hunt put on by the Parks and Rec department. It was *ahem* not super successful.

Hazel was pretty nervous beforehand.

And when the hunt started, she stood on the steps of the pool, frozen, and cried. Oops. A lifeguard, oops I mean BUNNY, helped her out and threw some pink eggs right in front of her. She cheered up a little bit after that.

Afterwards, there was time for a pretend slumber party with her doll. And Tygh. Lucky Tygh.

The family headed to Ouray for Saturday night and immediately hit the hot springs, America's most scenic warm water pool.

And checked out the goldfish pond.

The next day, it was time for a hike in to the Box Canyon.

On the hunt for lunch on Easter Sunday.

Of course we HAD to go to the hot springs again. (Tygh took a nap)

Then it was time for the Easter egg hunt in America's most scenic city park. This time, Hazel was ready.

Even if she was wearing an Ariel the Mermaid costume with her doll's sweater.

We couldn't resist the sunny, warm weather and spent some more time hanging out at the park before going home. This guy would spend days on the swing if he could.
