Weekend fun

Hazel and Tygh have been busy enjoying the unseasonable sunny weather. They spent the entire weekend outside, soaking up as much vitamin D as possible.

On Friday, Mom and Dad dropped Hazel off at school and took off for Tygh's second hike in the Gorge- this time to Upper McChord Creek Falls. Hazel did the same hike with us when she was a baby.

On Saturday, Dad had to work the medical tent at the cyclocross race so Hazel, Tygh and Mom headed to Fazio Farms, which happened to be right next door. Hazel was ecstatic to paint a pumpkin. She also rode a horse for the FIRST TIME EVER. Really. EVER. Previously, she has been waaaaaay too freaked out to ride a horse. Look who got all brave all of a sudden.

The presence of her friend Eli, who happens to adore horses, might have helped. Just a tad bit.

Hazel and Eli also tore up the bouncy slide. Well, Eli did. Hazel sat at the top, crying out for Eli to "come rescue her" because she didn't want to slide down by herself. Guess which of the two is a daredevil? I'll give you one try.

Tygh did what he does best- hung out in the Moby and on the ground. He chillaxed and enjoyed the beautiful weather too.

On Sunday, everyone ventured to East Portland to enjoy Sunday Parkways. It was Tygh's first ever bike ride and Mom's first ride since his birth.

Hazel practiced her circus tricks at one of the parks and everyone enjoyed Voodoo donuts at another stop. Tygh didn't seem to care either way- the trailer ride knocked him out pretty early- but Hazel was pretty jazzed on the whole scene.

3 weeks

Tygh turns 3 weeks old today. To celebrate, our neighbor Sue came over to cuddle him. Thanks to Sue, Tygh wasn't born at home. She came over right away (in the middle of the night) to watch Hazel when Mom and Dad had to rush to the hospital.

Hazel also had her second ballet class for the fall session. We're pretty sure she loved every minute of it.

After ballet class, it was time for dinner and a little chat session with Daddy, who was out of town. Tygh wants some of Hazel's dinner. Hazel was just practicing her eye roll.

Nana and Poppy come to visit

Nana and Poppy came to visit their favorite grandkids this past weekend. Hazel and Tygh kept them plenty busy.

First up was the Zaandercross cyclocross race. Hazel cheered for her daddy for awhile but that eventually proved too exhausting.

She made friends with another 4-year-old on the playground and they commenced following each other around for the rest of the day.

Nana spent a lot of time loving on Tygh, which is her job. It says so in the job description.

Everyone camped out for some cyclocross spectating.

Hazel prepared for her own race. Not to worry- her bike was not moving in this picture, so no helmet was required. Promise.

Every now and then, Hazel felt inspired to yell, "GO FASTER!" at the bike racers.

Afterwards, Poppy got to love on Tygh too.

Ok, we love Cha Cha Cha. We admit it. And we go there a lot. So we had to take Nana and Poppy there for brunch. It was predictably delicious. We worked on a Tinkerbell puzzle while we waited for our food. Of course.

Who doesn't love a sleeping baby on their chest?

We also checked out RiverFest at our very own Cathedral Park. It was meh, but Hazel had a good time.

And we of course went to the playground. Check out that hair!

Tygh was the recipient of some new pants that fit from Nana and Poppy so Hazel got her own treat: A bendable doll that she will love forever and ever.

After a breakfast at St. Honoré, there was yet another trip to another playground where we also took some family pictures.

Tygh goes for a hike

Mom finally felt well enough to get out and go for an easy hike. Hazel went to school (4-year-olds hike at glacial speed) and Mom and Dad took off for a little jaunt to Ponytail Falls. As you can tell, Tygh was really in to it.

Silas and Pearl Came to Visit

Tygh is two weeks and Hazel goes back to ballet class

At Tygh's two week appointment, he weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. He's up 9 oz. from birth, which Mom is happy about. Grow, baby, grow (so you will sleep longer at night)! she says.

Hazel started ballet classes again. She was beyond excited. What's more excited than excited? Thrilled, perhaps? Over the moon? Insane with anticipation? That would be her.

After ballet class, Hazel chose one her many ballet books to read to Tygh during his tummy time. The indoctrination begins early.

And that clock? Hazel put it there to give Tygh something to focus on during his tummy time. Right before she dropped it on his head (accidentally, but still). Apparently, sisterly abuse also begins early.

Good times in the sunshine

Teaching Tygh all about the river.

What? You don't wear recital costumes to the playground? What's wrong with you?
