Mountain girl

Dad is fond of saying to Hazel, "Buck up, kiddo. You're a Mountain Girl." That she is. Hazel spends a lot of time in the mountains, the past weekend being no exception. In case you didn't watch the previously posted video, here's a rundown of Hazel's "days off".

Before she heads out to ski, Hazel likes to thoroughly assess the snow conditions.

Fueling up on organic bunnies for a busy day.

Sledding around Mt. Hood Meadows, laughing at the poor skiers who actually have to walk back to their cars.

Educating Mom on proper patient technique and avalanche prediction.

Preparing to ski up the Glade Trail with Dad.

Hazel wants to know...how many days until next weekend??

The Hizz on skis

At the ripe young age of 17 months, The Hizz had her first experience on skis, or "schi!" as she call them. It was a roaring success- all 90 seconds of it. We're breaking her in slowly.

Dad, I want to go skiing NOW!

This is FUN!

The Hizz gets the hang of it.

Next step: teaching her to walk the dog

It's all part of Mom and Dad's grand plan to get Hizz to do all of their chores for them.

Indoctrination

Hazel believes that if she is going to be spending a large amount of time coloring, then she should be paid accordingly for her efforts.  More work should NOT equal less pay, says Hazel.  Stand up for your rights!

Hazel and her toboggan

Fabulous Colorado

Hazel made her annual winter trip to Colorado to see her Poppy and Nana and to ring in the New Year.  While there, she learned to love Colorado as much as her mom and dad do.  She also learned to dress appropriately for the weather- it was chilly.

Ready to hike in Rocky Mountain National Park.  It's warm in the sun!

Mid-hike: Before the "OMG I am cold" meltdown.

Everyone went to Breckenridge for a couple of days.  The family stayed in a slopeside condo and Hazel went sledding in her makeshift bobsled right off the porch.

Just like Mom and Dad, this girl likes SPEED.

Hazel also partook in the condo pool, one of her favorite parts of the trip.  Not only does she love speed, she loves water.

After Breckenridge, Mom and Dad went to Winter Park and left Hazel with Nana and Poppy.  She was duly spoiled with sugar and toys.  In fact, she was so busy, we have a distinct lack of pictures.  It's probably better to not see the evidence.

She had an incredible time and told Mom and Dad as much when they returned.  She even asked them if she could stay longer.  Unfortunately, daycare and work obligated everyone to return home.

See you in March, Colorado!
