Gosh, spring break is so awesome

What you have all been waiting for...

A...NAKED BABY!

Spring break

Mom and Hazel have been on spring break for the past week, which would explain the dearth of Hazel pictures.  They spent the first part of the week skiing with Daddy and then hightailed it to the family cabin in Central Washington to hang with Grandma.  Hazel got to be spoiled by Grandma, Mom got to ride her bike and ski- everyone was very happy.  They ended their week with more skiing with Daddy and a little bike racing.  Now, they need another spring break to recover from their spring break!

Below, Mom, Hazel, and Grandma found a hidden lake at Frenchman's Coulee near the cabin.  Hazel kept head-butting Mom (her new way to show affection, perhaps?) so Mom finally pulled the "wrap a fleece around the baby's shoulders" trick.  It worked- no more head-butting.

Toys are so unnecessary

Also, Hazel is wearing a dress.  So that alone makes it worth watching.

Spring?

It was one of those "fake" spring days today.  You know, the kind where the temp rises to 60 degrees and the sun comes out and you sigh and think, oh I hope it's like this again tomorrow.  And then, tomorrow turns out to be a big, fat return to normal: 45 degrees and raining.

Mom and Hazel took advantage of the nice weather and spent the afternoon outside.

Hazel relishes the Vitamin D just as much as Mom does.

Mom, is this flower poisonous?  Hold on, let me eat it and see.

Afterwards, Mom and Hazel went to the library where they met Briston (sp?), who was all too happy to read to Hazel.  Briston is in first grade, in case you were wondering, and he can read quite well, thank you very much.

Back to gray, dreary, and indoor play tomorrow.

Using that season pass of hers

This was our "we miss Daddy" picture.  The whole family was headed up to the mountain, including Uncle Nate and Aunt Marissa, with Hazel scheduled for daycare, when Daddy had to turn around and go to work.  So, Mom watched Hazel while Nate and Marissa skied and then everyone rotated turns.

Hazel thinks that Daddy is REALLY missing out on an amazing powder day, but she is obviously happy that Mom's 20th day on skis this season was SUH-WEET.

Oh, Daddy.  You have no idea what you're missing.  Skip work and get here fast!

And finally, this is what Hazel really thinks about having to go to work on Saturdays:

Reading (or eating?) books with Daddy

Uhhhhh...NASCAR girl?

Hazel came home from swimming at the gym today to find this onesie on her front porch.  It seems that Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Emily have their own ideas about what Hazel's future hobbies should be.

Vroom vroom!

In search of The Truth

A couple of days ago, one of the daycare teachers told Mom that Hazel has a habit of rolling around to get to toys she wants.  Mom was skeptical.  "Uh...are you sure you're talking about MY baby?" she asked.  Yep, they were sure.  At home, Hazel has shown zero propensity towards mobility and Mom and Dad were actually very happy about it.  They know that as soon as she starts moving, the real work begins.

So, tonight, Mom, Dad, and Hazel came home from the gym and after dinner, Hazel laid on the floor where she did this:
No amount of coaxing or toys would convince her to prove daycare right.  Until we see it with our very own eyes, it is not to be believed.

Sushi Girl

Hazel is slowly recovering from her ear infection, and she thought eating some sushi while wearing the special sushi outfit Jeremy and Emily bought for her would be the perfect way to recover.

Besides a mild fever, the only symptoms she's had have been a bunch of nasal gunk and sleepiness.  Otherwise she's been happy and bubbly and, apparently, rolling around and squirming on the ground at daycare.

So what did she think of the sushi? She stuck out her tongue and crinkled her nose.

Seriously, Mom and Dad

I know it's a powder day and all, but can you please come home from skiing soon?

Visiting Grandma and Grandad

Hazel is an educated and informed reader.  She tried to start a reading group, but no other babies would join and honestly, she was WAY too busy anyway.

Being FAN-tastic

Hazel went to the Banana Belt today to watch Mom and Dad race in the cold and the rain:

She really, honestly can't believe that Mom and Dad suffer like this for fun.

This is Hazel's new best friend, Kevin.  He was her babysitter during the race and he made sure to crack a beer open to celebrate.
