As I sit here writing this on January 16th, 2011, Hazel still thinks that Christmas is an ongoing holiday and that when she wakes up from her nap, we just might have another Christmas tree, strung with lights and with a stack of presents. Who can blame her, really? For the Christmas of 2010 really did last two straight weeks for this little girl, spanned three states and all kinds of weather, and resulted in lots of loot.
Consider this post Part I, because the Christmas in Colorado post deserves its own space, just as it does every year.
In Seattle, Haze kicked off Christmas with a celebration of Daddy's birthday. Being 2, she is not so much a fan of other people receiving presents, especially super cool ones like a Lego firefighter headlamp.
Things picked up for her though as she started grabbing gifts under the tree and telling, not even asking, "This one for me!" Yes, Hazel, THIS one was indeed for you.
She and her BFF, Aunt Ailey, bonded over their similar footy pajamas. You are never too old nor too young to wear footy pajamas.
One of Hazel's favorite gifts in her stocking this year was a travel pillow. She now uses it in every car trip over 10 min. Because, you know, car travel is exhausting.
The day before Christmas Eve, Hazel "helped" Mom bake a cake for Dad's birthday. She was official taste tester and she did a damn fine job.
To celebrate Dad's birthday, everyone went to the mountain for some sledding, snow angel making and snow tea parties.
And, on Christmas morning, Hazel woke once again to find yet more gifts from Santa Claus. This fat bearded guy is really generous.
To celebrate the Holy Holiday, Hazel went to the climbing gym with Mom and Dad, where she sent some sick problems and showed Mom and Dad what is what on the climbing wall.
That night, everyone went home and started the recovery period from too much food, too many presents and too much sloth, just in time to head to Colorado...
...coming soon!
